Diablo 4 Season 2 is winding down, and Season 3 is on the horizon, with Blizzard having recently revealed new details about what players can expect from this first season of 2024. Diablo 4 Season 3 will be titled Season of the Construct and will be themed around the mysterious Loom of Zoltun Kulle that lies beneath the sands of Kehjistan. Among the new features being added in this season are some highly-requested additions, such as The Gauntlet and leaderboards, along with some new seasonal quests and mechanics players can experience.
Season 2 of Diablo 4 did a great job correcting many of the mistakes of its rough first season following the game's launch back in Summer 2023. Now that Diablo 4 is in a more comfortable place balance-wise, Blizzard can experiment with more unique and innovative mechanics to keep Diablo 4 fresh going into 2024. It appears that the Season of the Construct will be another solid season for the game, following up on the lessons the developers learned from the Season of Blood.
Everything Confirmed for Diablo 4's Season of the Construct
New Seasonal Questline
As with each Diablo 4 season so far, the Season of the Construct is set to feature a new story told through its seasonal questline. Players will have to team up with one of Zoltun Kulle's former companions, Ayuzhan, to stop the demon Malphas from using Zoltun Kulle's Loom for his evil intentions. As a part of this quest, players will be able to access the hub of Gatehall, a town center located beneath the sands of Diablo 4's Kehjistan region that will serve as the base of operations for players as they delve into the new dungeons called Vaults.
Fight Alongside a Seneschal Companion
It seems like players will get to experience a Summoner-type build in Diablo 4 no matter what class they are playing during the Season of the Construct, as this season will offer players the chance to have a Seneschal companion fight alongside them. These companions can be customized to fit the player's needs through the use of Governing and Tuning Stones, which can be acquired from Vaults during this season. Players can equip their Seneschal companion with two Governing Stones at a time to control the attacks they can perform, as well as six Tuning Stones to augment these abilities.
New Dungeon Type Called Vaults
Vaults are the new type of dungeon players can explore in Diablo 4 Season 3, which includes new threats like elemental Hazards and a new enemy type called Constructs. Players will also be able to use new items called Pearls of Warding to gain Zoltun's Warding at the start of a dungeon, which can allow them to obtain special Wardwoven Chests if the Warding remains intact after defeating the Vault's boss. Like other dungeons in Diablo 4, Vaults can also become Nightmare Vaults with the corresponding Nightmare Sigils on World Tier 3 and above.
The Gauntlet and Leaderboards
An exciting new challenge also awaits Diablo 4 players later in the Season of the Construct when The Gauntlet is introduced to the game. This new dungeon allows players to test their skills by completing a weekly rotating fixed dungeon as quickly as possible. Along with The Gauntlet comes the addition of leaderboards which will showcase the top players in each category of Gauntlet runs every week.
Other Quality-of-Life Improvements and Seasonal Rewards
The Season of the Construct is also set to introduce some welcome quality-of-life updates to Diablo 4, such as the ability to navigate Sanctuary using the W-A-S-D keys for PC players, as well as an always-active Helltide system with only a five-minute cooldown period once per hour. Like with past Diablo 4 seasons, Season 3 will also have its own Season Journey and Battle Pass rewards for players to collect. The Season of the Construct for Diablo 4 begins on January 23, giving players ample time to prepare for this new experience.
