Helldivers 2: How to Destroy Facility Buildings

Defeating the Terminids and Automatons is not the only way to win the Galactic War in Helldivers 2. You also have optional objectives to complete on the side that may include destroying facility buildings and research laboratories.

The game, unfortunately, does not tell you how to level these abandoned outposts. Most players tend to start shooting the buildings with their newly unlocked weapons, which is just another way to waste precious ammunition.

There is no need to worry though. Destroying all buildings is one of the easiest secondary objectives to complete in Helldivers 2. Here is how you do it.

Best Way to Destroy All Facility Buildings in Helldivers 2

Helldivers 2: How to Destroy Facility Buildings

The easiest and most cost-effective way to destroy Research Stations, Rogue Research Labs, or any other facility outpost with buildings is to call in a Hellbomb in Helldivers 2.

Hellbombs are mission-specific stratagems that cannot be unlocked and equipped during the preparation phase like the other offensive stratagems in Helldivers 2. They are mini-nukes with the power to level a large area, or an entire research outpost in this case.

Hellbombs automatically become available to you after reaching the site of the mission objective. When you get a mission prompt to "destroy all facility buildings" in the top-right corner of your screen, it means that you are in range.

Open your stratagem list by holding L1/Ctrl on PS5/PC and punch the following stratagem button input to call a Hellbomb: Down, Up, Left, Down, Up, Right, Down, Up. Then interact with the Hellbomb and activate it by punching its series of random button prompts.

You will now have a few seconds before the Hellbomb detonates. Clear the area, and make sure your teammates do the same. There will also be an audio cue to let you know about the countdown. When the Hellbomb explodes, all facility buildings (and enemies) within its blast radius will be destroyed in Helldivers 2.

You can, of course, use your Orbital and Eagle stratagems to destroy buildings as well. The Helldivers 2 500kg Bomb is also a mini-nuke that can wipe out an outpost. The Orbital Laser is equally effective. However, there is no point in putting your stratagems on cooldown when you can call in a Hellbomb for free.

There are several secondary objectives that require you to use a Hellbomb. In addition to destroying Rogue Research Stations and Labs, you also need to call in a Hellbomb to destroy Fuel Silos and Stockpiled Ammunition in Helldivers 2. Future content updates are likely to add more objectives that make use of Hellbombs, so make sure to familiarize yourself with the explosive stratagem now.
