Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth’s Cloud Actor Teases Aerith’s Fate

Cloud Strife's actor in Final Fantasy 7 Remake and Rebirth, Cody Christian, has teased Aerith's fate in response to his heartbreaking scream for Tifa, and it's not looking like things end all that well for her.

We're just a few short weeks away from the long-awaited launch of Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth and, while some fans are probably just looking forward to trying out the new characters and exploring the open world, most of us are waiting to see the answer to the big question – will Aerith suffer the same fate she did in the original game, or will she somehow cheat death?

As you'd expect from such a big character moment, this is something that's been talked about (excuse the pun) to death and teased by the developers ever since Rebirth was first revealed. Most of the teases have suggested that Aerith is the one to suffer a cruel fate again, but a trailer released this week seemed to be teasing the opposite, as Cloud could be heard screaming Tifa's name as she appears to fall into the Lifestream.

Although many fans have taken that as a sign that we should be a bit more worried about characters other than Aerith, that doesn't mean that she's totally in the clear again. Over on Twitter, Cloud's English actor, Cody Christian, received a lot of responses and questions about his heartbreaking scream in the trailer.

One Twitter user, FF7_Angel, tweeted to Christian that they think that "Cloud definitely will also scream his lungs out in the moment where Aerith…you know", which is a clear reference to Aerith's potential death. You'd think that Christian would ignore this leading question so as to not potentially spoil or tease what happens to any of the characters, but that's not what he did as he responded with a very telling, "Oh.. I know..".

Christian's response here seems to indicate that something even worse is going to happen to Aerith than whatever is going on with Tifa, which certainly sounds like she might be biting the dust once again. Although it's a clear hint towards that happening and yet another tease at that being a possibility, it's likely that Christian is just having some fun with his audience and hitting them where he knows it hurts.

Still, even if it is just a fun tease that won't end up panning out, it is a painful reminder that Aerith isn't entirely safe from her previous fate and could very well end up breaking our hearts all over again. If she does die, at least we know that Christian is going to give it his all when it comes to Cloud's reaction.
