While the Torchpole isn't the best choice for any Elden Ring build, it can be a helpful crutch in the middle stages of the plot or a worthy trophy for your collection. With good physical damage and one of the best attack ranges among its class, this weapon can be an excellent secondary weapon to attack enemies without letting them get too close. Additionally, it has a built-in Charge Forth skill, a handy ability if you want to attack by converting momentum into additional damage or escape if you are surrounded.
The bad news is that obtaining this weapon can take quite a long time. After all, to add a Torchpole to your collection, you must take it away from its previous owner. And these guys won't want to give it up without a fight.
Where To Find Torchpole in Elden Ring
The only way to get Torchpole in Elden Ring is as a random drop from Stormveil Castle courtyard guards. However, the drop rate for this item is only about 2%, which means you will have to spend a lot of time tirelessly killing the same enemies. As the name suggests, the courtyard guards you are interested in are found only in Stormveil Castle, so go there.
It is worth noting that before you enter the palace grounds, you must defeat Margit, the Fell Omen. Once you complete this requirement, you can head straight to the main gate of the Stormveil Castle and go looking for specific enemies. Although courtyard guards are found throughout Stormveil Castle, units with Torchpole are much less common, so here is the best way to farm them:
- Head to the northwestern part of the palace and take the Liftside Chamber Site of Grace as a starting point.
- Descend into a courtyard with many stockades south of your starting point.
- Here, you can kill two courtyard guards with a Torchpole in their hands. There's another one a little higher on the wooden stairs, but you can ignore it to save time.
- If you're unlucky, rest near the Liftside Chamber Site of Grace and try again.
Although you will have to do about 20+ location reloads in the worst case, you will get what you want eventually. To use Torchpole, you must meet the minimum requirements of 14 Strength and 15 Dexterity. However, if you are trying to get this weapon, such low requirements are unlikely to become a stumbling block.
As for the Torchpole's abilities, it's not the best weapon you can get. Of course, the excellent physical damage and long attack range will allow you to use it for a while. But the low fire damage rates and the inability to infuse it with Ashes of War may change your mind. However, you can use it as an additional weapon because of the Charge Forth skill. The ability to escape if you are surrounded or quickly reach an enemy for a subsequent long-range attack can be a helpful move at any stage of the gameplay.
