After months of hearing nothing, it seems as though you can't move for new information regarding Dragon Age: The Veilguard's release date at the moment. Electronic Arts confirmed earlier this week that the game was still on track for a 2024 release, launching at some point in the third quarter of the current fiscal year, while developer BioWare confirmed that the release date will be announced at some point in August.
Unfortunately, it seems as though BioWare may have been beaten to the punch, as reputable industry insider Jeff Grubb has claimed that Dragon Age: The Veilguard will launch at some point in late October. Grubb claimed this at the 24-minute mark in his latest episode of Game Mess Mornings, explaining that late October is a timeframe that BioWare has wanted to hit with The Veilguard "for a while now."
Grubb doesn't have a specific date to share, though it sounds like BioWare doesn't either just yet, as he does point out that this date could shift between now and when the release date is officially announced later this month. BioWare is likely now in the process of nailing down that proper release date, and we'll likely see it finally revealed during Gamescom Opening Night Live on August 20.
Dragon Age: The Veilguard's Release Could Have Some Stiff Competition
If Grubb is accurate and Dragon Age: The Veilguard does release in late October, then BioWare has some pretty stiff competition. October is already pretty stacked at the moment, with massive games coming out almost every week. You have the likes of the Silent Hill 2 Remake to kick off the month, closely followed by the release of Metaphor: ReFantazio and Dragon Ball: Sparking Zero.
We then have a little bit of a break, with Super Mario Party Jamboree the only sizable title coming out, before the big guns of Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 and Sonic x Shadows Generations both release. Granted, there's only one RPG in that bunch to compete with compared to several launching in November, but going up against Call of Duty is no easy feat, regardless of genre. Hopefully, Dragon Age: The Veilguard manages to grab itself a decent chunk of time before it's overshadowed by something else.
