Baldur's Gate 3 shadowdropped on Xbox during The Game Awards when Larian Studios took home the top prize, Game of the Year. But it has been plagued by a major problem since launch – save wipes. Players reported losing all of their progress without warning, and while Larian Studios tried to fix the problem and even offered temporary solutions, it turned out to be an error on Microsoft's end.
As reported by Eurogamer, the save bug looks to be fixed at long last, as a patch is now available to download on Xbox which addresses the issue specifically.
An Xbox System Update will be rolling out from today to address the save game issue on Baldur's Gate 3. You can manually update your console via the settings or it will roll out to your console within the next week.
Just to be safe, it's worth making a Larian account and enabling cross-platform saves in-game. Even if you don't play on PS5 or PC, it'll ensure that your saves are stored in the cloud, meaning that if the Xbox patch doesn't work, you won't lose them for good. You just have to re-sync when you boot the game back up.
There's another problem Baldur's Gate 3 fans have run into on Xbox, and that's getting banned for taking screenshots and recording videos of some of the raunchier moments in-game. If you fancy a 'cuddle' with Shadowheart at camp or a night with Halsin as he puts his druid skills to work, snapping a pic could land you in hot water. While it was believed to be an error with automated moderation, the real reason is that it breaches Xbox's safety and content policies.
Whenever you take a screenshot or record a video, Xbox by default uploads it to cloud storage so that you can access your library on other devices. This library is monitored (meaning that bans were not made by bots), so taking pictures of nude scenes will get your account flagged. Larian Studios said it was in discussion with Xbox to iron out this "annoying and uncool" problem, but in the end, Microsoft simply warned players to turn off auto-upload and stop.
So, your saves should be fine now, but if you progress a bit further and get to see the spicier side of the game, make sure you're not uploading pics of Astarion in his birthday suit or you could get your Xbox account suspended.
