Magic: The Gathering Reveals Full 2026 Release Schedule, Including Hobbit And Star Trek Universes Beyond Sets

It's been a pretty big day for Magic: The Gathering. New Final Fantasy cards have been shown off (which look incredible), a set of PlayStation-themed Secret Lairs have been announced, and we finally got a decent look at MTG's first in-universe set releasing next year — Lorwyn Eclipsed. However, Wizards wasn't quite done there, and has actually revealed the full scheduled lineup of sets releasing in 2026.

This was done at a panel at MagicCon Atalanta, and several images of Magic: The Gathering's full lineup have been shared on social media (such as this Reddit post by user Proof-Palpitation374). It has been revealed that 2026 will include seven full sets — including Lorwyn Eclipsed — four of which are Universes Beyond and the rest in-universe.

Magic: The Gathering Full 2026 Release Schedule Revealed

First off, we'll be getting Lorwyn Eclipsed on January 23, but we already knew this going into the panel. What we didn't know is that this will be followed by a Universes Beyond set releasing at some point in March, though it has yet to be properly announced. We'll see the reveal next month on October 10 at New York Comic-Con.

After that, we'll be getting another in-universe set with Secrets of Strixhaven, which will be launching at some point in April, which will then be followed up by another Universes Beyond set in June. Thankfully, we actually know what this one will be, as Wizards will be collaborating with Marvel once again for a Marvel Super Heroes collab that seems to be more comic-inspired.

Another Universes Beyond set will then follow that, as it has now been confirmed that the mysterious Bilbo Baggins Instagram post from earlier this week was indeed teasing a return to The Lord of the Rings after all. In August, a crossover with The Hobbit will drop, which will then be followed up by an in-universe set called Reality Fracture in October.

Finally, the year will end with another Universes Beyond set, as MTG will be crossing over with Star Trek in November. Rather astonishingly, that means that 2026 will see more crossover sets released than actual in-universe sets, which will be sure to rankle the Universes Beyond haters that little bit more.
